# SOP: Monthly SEO Report

Pull the numbers, explain what changed and send a report the client actually reads.

## Objective

Show the client what happened, why it happened and what comes next, in a report they can read in five minutes.

## When to use

- The first working days of each month.
- Before a scheduled client call.

## Prerequisites

- Access to Google Analytics and Google Search Console.
- Last month’s report and work log.
- The SEO Report Template.

## Steps

1. **Collect the data** — Organic sessions, conversions, clicks, impressions and priority rankings for the month, last month and last year.
2. **Look for the story** — Find the one or two changes that matter most and their likely causes.
3. **List work completed** — Pull from your work log, with links.
4. **Note issues and risks** — Anything blocked, broken or waiting on the client.
5. **Write the plan** — The top three tasks for next month.
6. **Write the summary** — Three sentences at the top, written last.
7. **Proofread and send** — Check numbers against the source and send on the agreed day.

## Quality checklist

- [ ] Every number has a comparison period.
- [ ] Every big change has an explanation.
- [ ] The summary fits in three sentences.
- [ ] No jargon without a short explanation.
- [ ] The report went out on schedule.
