  • Search engines truncate titles by display width, not characters. Wide letters like W and M use more space than i or l.
  • This tool estimates width with your browser's Arial font at 20px and flags titles over about 580px. Real limits vary by device and change over time.
  • A common guideline is 50–60 characters with the main keyword near the start and the brand at the end.
  • Search engines may rewrite titles they consider unhelpful, so write for searchers first.
