Description

Technical issues are easiest to fix when each one is tied to a URL and a clear next step. Export your crawler results into this layout to keep findings consistent.

Use case

Use it after a site crawl, during a migration, or when pages are not showing up in search.

Instructions

  1. Crawl the site with your crawler of choice and export all HTML URLs.
  2. Flag non-200 status codes, noindex tags and canonicals that point elsewhere.
  3. Compare against the XML sitemap: indexable pages should be in it; redirects and 404s should not.
  4. Check Search Console’s page indexing report for URLs Google could not index.
  5. Write one fix per row and set priority by how important the page is.

Preview

Column headers with example rows. Replace the examples with your client’s data.

Example rows use a fictional client. Replace them with real data from your tools.
